Strive for Progress not Perfection

I am about to burst. You see I Strive for Progress not Perfection.

Perfection – or at least the thought of perfection – is what drove me into an eating disorder for over 10 years of my life. Since I finally overcame that dark time in my life, I try to never strive for perfection. But, you see, I am an athlete. I love to lift and I just signed my first coach to begin prepping for my first bikini competition.

Strive for Progress not Perfection

I told her about my past and that I strive for progress and not perfection. I thought she understood. Well, apparently she doesn’t. I have been at this for three weeks. The first week I tanked, the second week was better. I got in more cardio, eating is 70% vs 50% and I am drinking 1 gallon of water a day! I FEEL a lot better and I LOOK a little better. To me, that deserves a celebration!

Strive for Progress not Perfection

I just got chewed out and reprimanded. Strive for Progress not Perfection.

Stick to your beliefs. I am firing this current coach and signing a coach with the same  beliefs as me. I KNOW I should have done that in the first place – but I pulled the trigger too quickly and signed with someone with different beliefs than mine.

I may not look perfect the day I step on stage, but I will “Strive for Progress not Perfection” and stand for all the eating disorder survivors out there!
